English Vocabulary 〜from Beauty and the Beast ディズニー映画「美女と野獣から」〜

久しぶりに話題の「美女と野獣」のオリジナル版を観たので、その中から新しく学んだ語句を備忘録として。

(V) tramp どしどし歩く　踏みつける　=to walk with heavy steps

e.g)He is tramping around the town.（彼は町中を踏み荒らすように歩いている。）

(N) dungeon 地下牢 = a dark underground room in a castle that was used as a prison in the past

e.g)She was taken to the dungeon.(彼女は地下牢に連れて行かれた)

(Adj) loony 狂気の、まぬけな = an insulting word for someone who you think is crazy or strange

e.g)He is a loony man.(彼はどこかがおかしい。*劇中ではベルの父親に対して言われています。) 

(N or V) rust さび、錆びる、腐食する = rough red substance that damages the surface of iron and steel

e.g)We've been rusting！(俺たち今までずっと錆びれたまんまじゃないか！*劇中では城内のランプやポット達が自分たちの事を言っています。)

(V) wilt しおれる、しぼむ = to become weak and begin to bend towards the ground 

e.g)The flower will begin to wilt.(その花はもうすぐしぼみ始めるよ。)

久しぶりに観たらたとてもいいお話で、人は見かけだけじゃないという大切な事をまた教えてくれました。ディズニーは永遠に心動きますね、

It was such a beautiful story and reminded me of the quote "what is essential is invisible to the eye.".
